Masters Golf Schedule In 2027, Masters week will take place from Monday, April 5th to Sunday, April 11th. Each day of the Masters schedule brings something different to Augusta National Golf Club.
Masters week offers a full seven days of golf, featuring the top pros in the sport. In 2027, Masters week will take place from Monday, April 5th to Sunday, April 11th. Each day of the Masters schedule brings something different to Augusta National Golf Club. We’ve broken down the week below to help you schedule your ultimate Masters experience.
When is The Masters?
The 2027 Masters Tournament will take place from Monday, April 5 to Sunday, April 11, 2027, at Augusta National Golf Club. Tournament rounds will run from April 8–11, with earlier days reserved for practice rounds and the Par 3 Contest.
Practice Rounds
Monday and Tuesday are the Practice Rounds where the pros play around the course and work on their game. The practice rounds (including Wednesday’s Par 3 contest) are the only time cameras are permitted on the course, so it’s a good opportunity to take some pictures of the event and see the pros in a more relaxed atmosphere.
Par 3 Contest
Wednesday afternoon is the Par 3 contest, which is played on a separate 9-hole / par-27 course on the northeast corner of Augusta National. Players often have family members or even their children caddy for them during this contest. An interesting piece of trivia is that no player has ever won the Wednesday Par 3 contest and then gone on to win the Masters tournament itself in the same year. In fact, some players even consider it bad luck to win the Par 3 contest. For many years, arguably the three greatest golfers of their generation, Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, and Gary Player would be grouped together to play the Par 3 contest.
First Tournament Round
On Thursday, the first tournament round begins with an honorary tee-off to start the competition. Last year the honorary starters were Tom Watson, Jack Nicklaus, and Gary Player.
Second Tournament Round
Friday is the second tournament round. The first two rounds typically start around 8:00 a.m. and the full field of golfers are playing those days, usually in threesomes. After Friday’s competition, they cut the competition to only the top 50 scores (including ties) and/or any golfer within 10 strokes of the leader.
Third Tournament Round
Rounds three and four on Saturday and Sunday start a little bit later in the morning (usually around 10:00 a.m.) and the players tee off in reverse order of their scores: the golfers furthest behind the leader tee off earlier, and the leaders tee off last.
Fourth Tournament Round
On Sunday, the leaders usually tee off around 2:00-3:00 p.m. and the tournament normally finishes between 6:00-7:00 p.m. with the presentation of the green jacket to the winner. Typically Saturday and Sunday rounds are played with two players per group.
The 2027 Masters Tournament will be the 91st time this golf tournament is played. The Masters is one of the four major championships of men’s professional golf (along with the PGA Championship, U.S. Open and British Open). It is the first of the four played each year, and the only one played at the same golf course every year. In 2027, The Masters will take place April 8-11.
2027 Masters dates: The four-round, 72-hole tournament will be played from Thursday, April 8, through Sunday, April 11.
Golf course: Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia (View the Augusta National scorecard and hole names)
Defending champion: Rory McIlroy won the 2026 Masters by one stroke over Scottie Scheffler. McIlroy also won in 2025, and he is the fourth golfer in Masters history to win back-to-back. He’ll try to become the first-ever back-to-back-to-back Masters champ in 2027.
Ticket Information
Each year Augusta National conducts a lottery to award tickets for practice days, and also to award a very small number of tournament day tickets. See the Tickets section of Masters.com for information.
Those not lucky enough to get tickets through the annual drawing will mostly like have the secondary market — ticket brokers — as their only other option for getting tickets. However, beginning in 2026 Augusta National began cracking down on that option through technological means, making it very unlikely the ticket-broker option will remain viable.
Player Invitations
The Masters, like all of the majors, uses a set of “exemption criteria” to fill its field. When a golfer meets one or more of those criteria, he is on the list to receive an invitation to play in the tournament. See How Golfers Qualify to Play in The Masters for the ways in which a player can earn an invitation.
Once the field is set, the Augusta National tournament committee is responsible for determining the player groupings and tee times for the first two rounds. Those pairings are announced two days before the start of the tournament. See Masters Tee Times and Pairings for general info.
