HALIFAX – Tyler Tardi, known as @TardiParty online, is going to the Olympic Winter Games next year in February.
“Yeah, I got the call maybe two hours after the game,” said the affable youngster, referring to Saturday night’s men’s Game 2 playoff at the Canadian Olympic Trials.
Tardi will join Team Brad Jacobs as the men’s fours alternate in February, at the Olympic Winter Games in Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy.

The announcement was made at a Monday morning news conference called by the Canadian Olympic Committee, where the Jacobs and Homan teams were confirmed as members of Team Canada 2026.
Tardi is becoming very well known in curling’s digital space. His online videos both entertain with displays of great (or bizarre) shotmaking and inform, with breakdowns of strategy calls.
He competed in the Olympic Trials – and the previous two Briers – with Kevin Koe out of Alberta. The B.C. native first burst onto the curling scene with Winter Youth Olympic gold in 2016 and then back-to-back world junior gold medals as skip in 2018 and ’19.
“I was very hopeful (of a Jacobs call) having gone with them to two previous events that went very well… but they don’t owe me anything, so I was prepared for no call as well,” said Tardi.
“The call was fun, throwing jokes, being very happy. The call ended and I was shaking for a while with excitement… I thought my body was shutting down.
“It was a pretty similar feeling to getting the call to the Youth Olympics.”
The 27-year-old averages about 10 years younger than his teammates – while second Brett Gallant is 35, the veteran trio of Jacobs, Marc Kennedy and Ben Hebert are all over 40.
Just prior to speaking to The Curling News, Tardi went to his social media feeds – naturally – to express his thoughts.
“It feel like the first day of the rest of my life,” Tardi said. “I look up to that entire team… and I’m beyond honoured to be joining them as a support player, and doing absolutely everything I can to get the best out of those guys.
