That’s more like it for Team Mouat.
The Stirling-based squad posted a perfect 7-0 record on home ice to retain the Euro Super Series men’s title.
Mouat capped things off with a 7-5 win over China’s Team Xu in Sunday’s final.
Skip Bruce Mouat, third Grant Hardie, second Bobby Lammie and lead Hammy McMillan Jr. bounced back from a disappointing finish during last week’s Baden Masters in Switzerland, falling in an 8-0 shutout to Team Hösli during the semifinals.
Team Peterson of the United States took the Euro Super Series women’s title, scoring three points in the seventh end during a 5-2 victory over Scotland’s Team Morrison in the final.
Skip Tabitha Peterson, third Cory Thiesse, second Tara Peterson and lead Taylor Anderson-Heide overcame an 0-2 start in the tournament, winning four straight games en route to the title.
Oddly enough, it’s the second event to start the season where Peterson has overcome an 0-2 deficit to come out on top. Peterson was also down early in the USA Curling Pan Continental Qualifier two weeks ago in Chaska, Minn., but emerged victorious in the end.
Fujisawa, Yamaguchi win ADVICS Cup
In Kitami, Japan, Team Fujisawa secured a second title of the season by winning the ADVICS Cup.
Fujisawa stole three points in the second end and one in the third during a 6-4 victory over Team Tabata in Sunday’s final.
Team Kitazawa downed Team Sasaki 8-2 in the third-place game.
The team of skip Satsuki Fujisawa, third Chinami Yoshida, second Yumi Suzuki and lead Yurika Yoshida kicked off the season by capturing the Wakkanai Midori Challenge Cup at the start of the month and ran the table in both events.
It’s been a strong start to the season for Fujisawa, who holds a 17-1 record, with her lone loss against Tabata in the Hokkaido Bank Curling Classic semifinals.
Meanwhile, Team Yamaguchi doubled up Team Abe 8-4 to claim the ADVICS Cup men’s title.
Team Hirata held off Team Ogiwara 7-6 in the men’s third-place game.
