Preview, schedule, and how to watch live
The 2025 European Curling Championships are heading to Lohja, Finland, where, from 22-29 November, 10 men’s and 10 women’s curling teams will battle it out for the continental crown.
The event, taking place 75 days before the curling action starts at the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026, will see the women’s and men’s competitions take place concurrently, promising an action-filled week of curling.
Both contests will adopt the same format, whereby all teams will play each other once in a round-robin before the top four teams are paired up for two semi-final matches.
The winners will advance to the final, while bronze medal matches will take place for the runners-up.
Many of the nations who are set to compete at Milano Cortina will be in action, and in addition to crowning two champions, the European Curling Championship will also qualify European curling teams to the 2026 World Curling Championships.

2025 European Curling Championships: Story lines to follow
As the clock ticks down to Milano Cortina 2026, this year’s European Championships are sure to be a point of intrigue.
In the men’s event, Marc Muskatewitz of Germany will bid to defend his hard-fought team’s title after their stunning upset of Scotland at last year’s edition of the event, but it will not be without its challenges.
The Scots, skipped by Bruce Mouat, have come into this season in stunning form, with Mouat already guiding his rink to two successive Grand Slam of Curling titles to take his career total up to 12. The Olympic silver medallist from Beijing 2022 will be eager to reclaim the European crown after the Germans denied his team the chance to claim a fourth consecutive title in 2024.
Also in the field are Sweden, skipped by seven-time European champion and reigning Olympic champion Niklas Edin; Switzerland, led by Yannick Schwaller and upcoming hosts of the Games, Italy, fronted by Joël Retornaz.
In the women’s competition, Switzerland return as the defending champions, but in a compelling twist, it will not be Silvana Tirinzoni representing the curling powerhouse.
The four-time world champion and the winner from last year finished third at the 2024 Swiss Women’s Curling Championships, meaning she rescinded the right to curl for Switzerland in Lohja. Corrie Hürlimann will instead lead the charge.
Given that Team Tirinzoni are one of the two great forces in world women’s curling right now, their absence opens the door to other hungry teams looking to capitalise. Among those to watch out for will be 2023 winners Denmark, Scotland, skipped by Sophie Jackson, and Sweden, led by the veteran Anna Hasselborg.
As it stands, the European men’s teams that have secured quotas for Milano Cortina 2026 are: Great Britain, Germany, Italy, Czechia, Norway, Sweden, and Switzerland. The European women’s teams to have achieved the same feat are Denmark, Great Britain, Italy, Sweden, and Switzerland.
